REXDALE, Ontario--InstitutRosell/Lallemand (www.lallemand.com) announced a strategic alliance with Slate Hill, N.Y.-based Balchem Encapsulates to create Probiocap™, a line of encapsulated probiotic cultures. By combining proprietary encapsulation technology from Balchem (www.balchem.com) and probiotic cultures from InstitutRosell, the companies created stable probiotic cultures that are protected from moisture, high humidity and acidity, and can pass through the gastrointestinal tract without being destroyed. The Probiocap line, marketed by InstitutRosell, includes Lactobacillus acidophilus, Lactobacillus rhamnosus and Bifidobacterium longum, as well as Pediococcus acidilactici and Enterococcus faecium, two strains geared toward animal products.
