Japanese MAFF Approves QAI Japan

SAN DIEGO--Quality Assurance International's (QAI) wholly owned subsidiary,QAI Japan Ltd., announced in October that it was approved by the JapaneseMinistry of Agriculture, Forestry & Fisheries (MAFF). QAI clients will nowbe able to carry the certified-organic Japanese Agricultural Standards (JAS)seal. This certification meets the requirement that all imported products toJapan must be certified by an approved organization that is incorporated inJapan.

"Until now, if a company wanted to export organic product to Japan, itsonly options were to hire a Japanese certification agency or work through acomplicated series of steps," said Joe Smillie, senior vice president ofQAI.
