Choice Organic Tea NowFair Market Certified

SEATTLE--Choice Organic Teas, a brand of Granum Inc. products, has become the first U.S. tea company to be Fair Market Certified. TransFair USA, a nonprofit monitoring organization that guarantees strict adherence to internationally accepted Fair Trade criteria, granted the company its certification. As a "fair trader" company, Choice pays an additional premium per kilo directly to tea-growing communities. This additional fee is not passed on to the consumer, but is a cost the company pays to be a part of the cause. "Informal research, as well as our own business instincts, tell us that the organic tea drinker is also someone who is concerned about social and environmental issues," said Blake Rankin, founder and chief executive officer of Granum. "To that end, Fair Trade speaks directly to the consumer's interest in purchasing products that are helping to nurture a good cause."
