WEST CALDWELL, N.J.KEB Biotechnology named Novel Ingredient Services as its exclusive distributor for the branded ingredient D-mannose in North America. Trademarked and sold as UT-Pro, the simple sugar is used in dietary supplements and functional foods to support urinary tract health.

Xinliang Bai, president of KEB, said the company chose Novel because the company offers value-added services including custom ingredient manufacturing and regulatory expertise, in addition to an extensive service network.

KEB's Inner Mongolia facility employs U.S. good manufacturing practices (GMPs) to produce D-mannose, derived the glucose. The company said the ingredient is absorbed slower than glucose, and coats matter in the bladder and urinary tract so it cannot adhere to the organs' walls.
