The Fountain of Youth had its 15 minutes of fame, but it turns out people don’t really want to live forever, but they do want to live healthy and vibrant lives for as long as possible. Throughout this session, experts talked about the need for a greater understanding of how dietary measures can turn gene expression on and off. They also discussed how new technologies and nutrient discoveries will make for fast-acting and long-lasting nutritional solutions for consumers. Supplement formulators, marketers and business executives can all benefit from watching this hour-long session.

Each of the session experts took on a different aspect of healthy aging. Moderator and long-time nutritional supplement editor Todd Runestad discussed the state of the market, including supplements such as reservatrol, telomeres, NAD+, NMN, alpha-ketoglutarate, omega-3 DHA, plus other nutrients that support aging joints and eyes. Runestad even provided a list of exhibiting suppliers for those capitlalizing on being present at SupplySide East.

Christopher Shade, Ph.D., took on explaining the Longevity Wheel as a means of defining and unlocking metrics to age optimization. He brought a master's class that dug deep into the biochemical and epigenetic underpinnings of the aging process—and how nutrients can help.

Finally, Ellen Schutt discussed the vital role omega-3 fatty acids DHA and EPA play in a range of aging metrics. She described them as the ultimate Swiss Army Knife ingredient that can help support aging throughout life and in a wide swath of specific health concerns.
