Taiyo Receives FSSC 22000 Certification

MINNEAPOLISTaiyo's Sunfiber manufacturing facility in Aurangabad, India received Food Safety System Certification (FSSC) 22000 certification from Bureau Veritas Certification (BVC). Recognized by the Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI), the independent third-party certification applies to food-safety management systems worldwide. This is Taiyo's third facility to receive a GFSI-recognized certification.
"Taiyos successful FSSC certification reaffirms its commitment to providing the highest quality and safest ingredients to customers around the world," said Taiyos vice president Lekh Juneja. "BVCs recognition of our manufacturing process and attention to food safety further assures customers of Taiyos dedication to safety."
The company manufacturers Sunfiber, a galactomannan-based soluble dietary fiber that is self-affirmed GRAS (generally recognized as safe), and SunAmla, a proprietary amla extract.
In a new study published in the British Journal of Nutrition, Taiyo researchers found amla fruit may work as an anticoagulant and anti-inflammatory agent (Br J Nutr. 2013 Jun 7:1-6) in both in vitro and rat models. According to Taiyo, researchers "found that amla fruit extract significantly inhibited the biological responses that can lead to inflammation and blood clots."
